Jonathon L. Sargeant was born in Waynesboro, Virginia, and was reared in Kinston. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1992, and is licensed to practice law in the State Courts of North Carolina, United States District Court, and the Eastern District of North Carolina. He is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.S.B.A., 1989; J.D., 1992). Mr. Sargeant concentrates his practice in the areas of divorce, child custody, child support, alimony and spousal support, property distribution and adoption. Mr. Sargeant is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, having been certified as a specialist by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization in 2000. Mr. Sargeant is an active member of the Lenoir County Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Trial Lawyers. He practices in the areas of family law, real estate law, commerical litigation, domestic litigation, personal injury litigation, and general civil litigation.
